- in modern life people want to escape civilization, an example is mark twains Huckleberry Finn -first civilizations 3500 B.C.E  to 3000 B.C.E -Uruk ancient city that was the largest in Mesopotamia - jobs and work was split up into different tiers, junior senior for example - even in the first civilization there was inequality, not race but wealth status and power - the civilizations and cities were held together by kings who appointed ranked officials - writing was a huge innovation and traqfomers the way that information was kept and passed on - Mesopotamia and Egypt were close and they interacted often with each other trading.
