- jobs and work was split up into different tiers, junior senior for example

- even in the first civilization there was inequality, not race but wealth status and power

- the civilizations and cities were held together by kings who appointed ranked officials

- writing was a huge innovation and traqfomers the way that information was kept and passed on

- Mesopotamia and Egypt were close and they interacted often with each other trading.

chapter 9

Persians rose to power fast but they also fell quickly, they were extremely brilliant and had new ways of running tings.  people were not prepared to defend agains this.  500 BC was the start of the classical period 100 years after start of classical period the greek empire formed and began to rise in power.  the Persians handed their empire to Rome on a "silver platter" when they fell, allowed for the rise of the Roman Empire people looked to religion to guide them and to follow and base their loves off of.  Greeks were humanists, they had gods that were in human form and multiple of them  3 main points of Roman Empire.  Empire builders/ Maintneces  Copied and compared the greek empire and used it as an example  they housed Christians.  This is where christianity first became big and this is where it spread form.
