Chapter 7

Silk Road:


  • Started in china 
  • went from china to Africa Europe and Vietnam 
  • the goods that are traded were silk, gold, iron, Bamboo shoots 
  • carriers brought the items on the road so that Europe Africa China and Vietnam could trade between each other
  • The items were more expensive the further they traveled. 

Sand Road: 

  • Was used to transport gold, salt, cotton, textiles, and food  in Africa along the Niger River 
  • they used camels and donkeys to carry the goods along the road 
  • As the trade rout began to grow it made the Saharan desert a global trade rout and transformed it from just a way of interaction between civilizations within Africa 

Sea Road: 
  • This trade rout was based in the Indian Ocean and spanned from Asia, India, and Africa. 
  • Transporting good by boat it made good cheaper to transport unlike the Silk Road where goods would be marked up in price the further they went. 
  • Harbor towns were formed to be able and receive the goods being transported on this rout. 
  • The goods trade on this rout were Slaves, Gold and Spices. Along with various other goods but this is what mainly was traded. 
  • Also allowed for a widespread expanding of religion and new religions being brought to new places.
